Lick of the Day

Devil's Bus Stop

From: Jason Loughlin’s Rockabilly Licks, Vol. 1

This is a Cliff Gallup-inspired double-stop lick that comes from Race with the Devil. We start with a little chromatic run into the third of the chord. The cool thing about this double-stop is that the bottom note doesn’t change while the note on top does. We would call this a pedal tone or we would say the note is pedaling. A pedal tone can be the top, middle or bottom voice of any chord or double-stop.
