Here’s a very simple lick idea that works as an emotionally-charged melodic phrase. I always listen carefully to the underlying harmony and groove before creating my melodies because I want them to be seamless and sympathetic to the other musical elements. In my opinion, guitarists tend to want to overplay, and say too much on our instrument. I'd prefer to play less and say more when I play and I hope this phrase illustrates that concept clearly.
