From: Tom Wolfe's Hard Bop Blues Vol. 1

The blues scale is comprised of blue tones: flatted-3rd, flatted-5th and the flatted-7th. It doesn't include the major 3rd though. This lick takes the blues scale and incorporates the major 3rd next to the flatted-3rd for a very Wes-like phrase. It can be played at all speeds and be very effective.
